Social justice for mobility users in the community

Founded in 2013, Stairlift Recycling Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation that works to enhance home independence by providing affordable, good-quality stairlifts.

A brand-new stairlift typically costs thousands of pounds, yet this investment is often wasted at the end of its use. We remove these used stairlifts and extend their lifecycle by refurbishing them before offering them to those in need at hugely reduced rates.

Working in hubs across the country, we create employment for war veterans; this initiative aligns with our employment equality policy. Getting ex-servicemen and women back into work is an essential aspect of their re-integration into society, yet many struggle to find a job following their time in service.

Our social cause has received an overwhelming response from the public willing to support our hardworking employees. Most people in our communities are delighted by the prospect of their unwanted mobility equipment going on to help somebody else retain their independence.

Our collaborative work with community service providers, and the public, promotes falls prevention within the home, saving vital resources for the NHS. We deliver an exceptional cost-saving service for people in palliative care, which affords the patient the choice of receiving end-of-life care in the privacy of their own home. Our service goes some way to alleviate the pain and stress the family faces during a challenging time.
